Happiest Baby on the Block

One of the most common things we hear from people about Rosemary is that not all babies are like her. She's absurdly calm, relaxed, and happy. Even at her fussiest she's pretty mellow. Today is probably the best example of this.

At about 10:00 last night, she woke up with her first serious cold. She'd had a little sniffle when she was six weeks old, and an oddly high fever for one day, but has never truly been sick. This was different. This was hysterical crying, super congested, couldn't breathe comfortably, hot and sweaty baby. The only thing that seemed to help her was holding her upright. So we took turns holding her all night so she could sleep comfortably. This morning she was back to her happy, squealing, smiling self, even with green stuff flying out of her nose all morning!
She doesn't look too bad for being up all night with a fever and cold! Dave and I, on the other hand, are not looking quite as cheerful. Although I did realize something while holding her all night - one day she won't want to snuggle when sick. She won't burrow her little head into my shoulder and whisper "mum mum mum". My baby is growing up quickly and I need to cherish each moment. Even when I'm so tired my eyeballs want to fall out...

  1. Sniff, sniff...what a good post! Hugs and kisses (from afar) to all of you. Poor Uncle Dave probably isn't fairing too well at work today, huh?
